Chris Tomlin第一把吉他來自她的父親，他自己跟著Willie Nelson的唱片學習彈奏，14歲就第一次嘗試譜寫基督教歌曲。他本來進入大學攻讀物理治療，但是過程中感受到 神的指引，毅然決然投入到基督教歌手的領域中。
在他的音樂生涯中多次獲得福音音樂界最高榮譽獎項--聖鴿獎最佳男歌手的肯定。

這首歌本來不被Chris Tomlin收錄在專輯中，但偶然對朋友演唱這首歌時，朋友非常喜歡這首歌，因此說服Chris把它收錄在專輯中。

Chris自己也很喜歡這首歌的意境，他覺得:「雖然這是上有很多的苦痛與悲傷，但是總有一天耶穌可以讓這一切回到正軌，在那特別的日子來臨時，所有的鎖鏈、重擔都可以被挪去，這首歌裡包含著光明與希望的意義。」
